IMPORTANT DAHLIA PRE-SALE INFO

PLEASE READ ALL INFORMATION below before ordering dahlia tubers online.

PRE-ORDER FIRST RELEASE SALE

The first sale of dahlia tubers will be a pre-order for dispatch mid-late September. This gives time to cure, dig, overwinter, divide and quality inspect all tubers before dispatch in time for planting.

There will be a SECOND RELEASE SALE once final tuber numbers are confirmed. Including the option for COMBINED COURIER if an extra order is placed before dispatch of first release tubers. Other lovely varieties will become available in small quantities for this later sale.

All tubers available for sale have been grown from tuber divisions or cuttings from our own growing stock in Gisborne, NZ, for at least one season, most three plus seasons.

Initial presale numbers are on the conservative side to limit risk as the varieties need to store over winter after digging. In the unlikely case of a variety not storing well, we will contact you to offer a refund or replacement with another variety.

Tubers come in many different shapes and sizes, most will be single tubers, some may have a small clump. Some will be large, some will be small, a lot of it is variety dependent. Even the smallest tuber will grow into a beautiful plant. All have been checked for visible eyes at dividing time and the cut ends dipped in cinnamon. Please check tubers when they arrive and if there are any issues, email with details and photos within 7 days of package arriving so we can discuss and remedy if necessary. Basic care and planting instructions will be included with each package.

Purchaser is responsible for care of tubers between arrival and planting time. There are a range of ways to store dahlias, and it comes down to personal preference. There are many resources online Google/Youtube. Floret “Discovering Dahlias” book has great information on all things dahlias, including storage. Dahlia tubers usually experience some shrivelling during storage but will still shoot and produce a healthy plant. In the unlikely case of a variety mislabel, please send confirmation of order and photos so we can discuss a remedy – refund or replacement next season.

Best practice care steps have been taken to prevent the introduction/spread of disease. New varieties have been quarantined in a different growing area for a season. Tools have been sanitised between plants during the growing season and between each tuber clump at digging and dividing time. All tubers are carefully inspected at planting, lifting, dividing and dispatch time to check their quality. Please be aware that disease can already be present in your soil and can be transmitted by insects or gardening tools during the growing season. Therefore, we take no responsibility for any disease that may appear during the growing season.

Courier costs listed below, via NZ Post, averaged out based on most common box and courier bag size used. Please choose carefully at checkout.

We have done our best to hold courier costs at the same price for three years in a row. This year with rising courier costs we will counter this by eliminating the individually packed paper bags, tubers will all be clearly labelled and packed together in the box, reducing the cost and time of packaging so we can pass these savings on.
